Day Twenty-Three

Here we are finally … at the end … on the beach!

We drove down near Matagorda Bay the night before, with a skeleton crew and only the two actors we needed, Cooper (Young Derrick) and Thom (Frank).

And yes, it was just one scene that we needed, a flashback to 1965. And of course, a vehicle is involved.

First, we needed to get some car exteriors of it driving down the beach.

Since we don’t have control of any beach traffic, any post-1965 cars in the way we have to wait for. The traffic is not too bad, but it takes a bit to get this done.

Second, we had to go back to base camp and rig the car with a camera on both the driver’s side and the passenger’s side for the interior shots..

These things always take longer than you expect, but luckily it’s not only our last shot of the day, but of the whole shoot. Nobody is stressed … hey we’re at the beach!

Third, we are back out on the beach all rigged up and ready to rock and roll!

Our stunt coordinator Jeff is here again to make sure little Cooper is safe as he hangs out the window to get sprayed by the ocean water.

I am in the back seat directing the actors, and making sure no other nonsense occurs. After several takes from our wonderful duet of actors …

It’s a WRAP!! Let’s party!

Time for all our goodbyes … and now onto the edit …
